The Best Superbike Forums And Online Communities – Good morning!! I’m new to the forum and thus to the bike world! I am 22 years old and these days I am doing courses on the a2 license. After getting my licence, I’m thinking of buying a new yamaha r3 2022, would it be ideal as a first bike? Is it great for beginners? Of course I wouldn’t ride in a town or freeway or country road with traffic etc until I learn how to ride a bike like this.. There is a big road in my neighborhood where they practice for a bike license and it’s great. almost quiet time so it’s a perfect place to learn steering, throttle, brakes and more! I am waiting for your answers, thank you and sorry for my bad english 🤭

The R3 is a PERFECT first bike… Having said that, I wouldn’t buy it new. You will probably “crash” in a parking lot, or have a low-speed accident in the first year. EVERYONE drops their bike eventually- It happens. I have been riding for over 40 years, and am a cycling coach at a local track school. I managed to crash my R3 in the pits at a track event. Pretty embarrassing, but it keeps me humble. My best recommendation is to buy an R3 that someone else has already crashed/fixed/scratched/deleted. You won’t take a financial loss when you go to sell, and you won’t feel bad when your “perfect” R3 hits the ground. Good luck-

Thanks for your great tips!! I’m also thinking of buying a used one but in my country and especially in my state there aren’t many used r3 bikes, more r6 or r1.. but I’ll look for it soon! Is r3 easy with throlt braking etc? Does he have difficulty walking?

The R3 is the perfect bike to start with, keep around when you’re experienced, and retire from riding. Small displacement bikes always have a place, and they are the most versatile machines around, and the most fun to ride for recreational fun and relaxation. Good luck!

The R3 is definitely a good choice for a new rider. To be fair, all 300 and 400 class bikes are very useful. (My choice for a completely new rider would be the CBR300.)

As I mentioned earlier, for a completely new rider, the CBR300 is a good choice in terms of its power delivery. I’ve ridden on the deck with the R3, and the power is more available lower down, whereas with the R3 you have to work harder and find the power higher up in the rev range. Although the R3 is faster and more powerful, the seat of the pants (especially for newer riders) is that the CBR feels much faster.

I’m a fan of both engines for different reasons. The CBR is a very practical real-world commuter. The R3 engine is quite sporty and high-revving and is a lot of fun on a twisty road.

Ultimately, it depends on what you want. If you’re looking at the sporty end of the market, the 2022 RC390 is worth considering. I haven’t had a chance to ride the final setup yet, but it looks like a fantastic overall package.
