Motivated by the win and Kevin’s words of encouragement, Maggie decides to race professionally, much to her father’s chagrin. After some ups and downs, Herb and Maggie bond and form an impressive team that acts as a catalyst to help her family’s racing team win the NASCAR Nextel Cup. This sports comedy film will entertain and offer relief from the male-dominated racing movies. The film stars Lindsay Lohan, Michael Keaton, Matt Dillon and Justin Long.
The action of the film takes place in the penal prison of Terminal Island, where the death race called Death Race is broadcast, in which the inmates participate in order to gain freedom. An unfortunate turn of events finds ex-con Jensen Ames (Jason Statham) on Terminal Island. He is forced by prison warden Claire Hennessy (Joan Allen) to compete as the popular racer Frankenstein in exchange for his freedom. Jensen agrees, but faces hostility from the former racer’s team and other racers. Jensen hatches a plan to get revenge on Claire, the creator of his imprisonment. He teams up with fellow countryman Joseph Mason (Tyreese Gibson), who plans to escape during the race. The film offers adrenaline-pumping, edge-of-the-seat thrills as prisoners compete in armored vehicles, avoiding death traps on a race track and killing each other to win the race. It follows Speed Racer, who dreams of winning the Grand Prix and following in the footsteps of his record-breaking brother, Rex Racer, who dies while navigating a dangerous race.
