Otos by Brad Klassen) – Yesterday we brought you the first of two galleries from the recent Pro Street Racing Association event at Thunder Valley Raceway Park in Oklahoma. The race brought out some of the best doorslammers in the field and featured everything from big tire Pro Modified machines to steel bodied, small tire muscle car action. There was literally something for everyone and Brad Klassin, our on-scene man, captured the action through his camera lens.

Whether you like them blown and injected, turbocharged, carb-equipped, or sucking nitrous through a hose, PSRA has a class for it. The organization runs many events throughout the year so you can be a part of the fun and compete for a championship in one of the many classes they offer. Organizations like the PSRA are important to drag racing because they allow guys with cars that don’t fit into a traditional bracket program (or guys who don’t want to race in a traditional bracket program) to compete and at the level they want to. yes The more options racers have the better off they are for local tracks and the sport in general. More options means more participants which means better shows, more fans and more work.

This is another amazing gallery and we envy Brad’s day on the Strip, it sure looked like he had a blast!

With its seemingly endless days and lush green climate, Sweden is definitely a beautiful place in the middle of summer. For now, though, all my attention is focused on 30 minutes ago, when a smiling, sandy-haired man named Johan offered me a pair of fluoro-green earmuffs as I awkwardly walked across the rollcage and bare. The mixture was spinning in the Kirky passenger seat. Magnus’s [surname omitted] nitrous-fed, 491ci big block Chevrolet Monte Carlo drag car. I politely declined.
He raised an eyebrow, shrugged his shoulders and smiled before saying “Okay” and chuckling to himself as he walked away with a typical Scandinavian nonchalance.

Now, as the heat, vibration and thunderous noise from the open headers dumped directly under my Nikes pass through my legs and whatever’s left of my brain, I understand. I should have listened to Johan. At the same time, Johan probably should have emphasized… It’s like sticking your head inside a leg drum while someone with very strong calf muscles does double kicks 20,000 times a minute.
After slowing down to highway speed after our quick on-the-fly testing session, we were rejoined by a fleet of support vehicles that had flown from our home base of Team Insane Racing in an industrial area south of the central city. came behind The cars quickly form into a tight herd, forming a protective cocoon of steel, glass and rubber around the completely unregistered and highly-illegal G-body drag car.
We’re pulling into an empty parking lot to meet Magnus’ challenger in the Stockholm Top 10 – an underground street racing league that’s a part of the city’s long-standing automotive culture. A large crowd of spectators and their cars are already in place when we arrive, and the rival, driving a ’68 Camaro, announces his arrival a few minutes later with a healthy stab of the throttle.
Words are exchanged between the drivers and the Monte Carlo gets one last check. Word then spreads through the crowd and both GMs erupt, then scream into life. Both machines are running big block shaves and plenty of nitrous, although the Camaro is built as a street car, and still uses mostly steel panels and full glass, giving it a weight disadvantage. .
Street Racing Syndicate Steam Review
I had no intention of being inside Monte Carlo for whatever would unfold in the next 10 minutes. Instead, I jumped into the back of one of Team Insane’s ‘blocker’ team cars (more on that later) and followed the Monte out of the parking lot and onto the highway on-ramp.
Marcus, head of Team Insane Racing and driver of our vehicle, weaves through the crowd of spectator cars that have managed to get out in front. It was, at times, just millimeters away from a demolition derby, but it was important that the team vehicles were on the starting line, not stuck behind 50 cars and hundreds of people looking for a place to watch the race. . After only a minute of highway driving, the Chevy suddenly hit the pickup ahead, coming to a stop before an overpass.
Everyone got out of their cars and immediately ran to the startline. I couldn’t help but wonder how many ‘normal’ people had unknowingly gotten themselves caught up in the middle of it all and are now sitting at a stop on a major highway wondering what the heck is going on.
Both teams quickly circled their cars, and with the thumbs up, Magnus and his rival ripped off – firing past Mickey Thompson while the teams held the cars in position before pulling back and letting the drivers brake. allows And leave two pairs of thick, arrow-straight lines down the highway.

This not only serves to warm the tires, but also cleans any dirt and debris from the road surface and lays down a nice layer of warm rubber that gives the slicks something to grab onto in the future.
The cars are then backed up to the startline by the teams, and the official starters come out in front of the two shaves. After checking that both drivers are ready, the starter swings its arms down, and both machines violently turn nose up and down the line.
Magnus’s reaction time is perfect and he gets a clear jump on the Camaro, pulling out in front as the team cheers erupt. But it was not to last. The Camaro starts accelerating at the 150 meter mark. It was hard to tell from our vantage point, but word soon came from the finish line – Magnus had lost the race. However, the other team had no time to wait around and congratulate. Judging by the race result, Magnus could be in real trouble down the highway. It was a mad sprint to our vehicles and I barely lifted my feet off the pavement and into the sport car before we sat on the limiter, tearing down the highway at top speed. Time was of the essence: if something was wrong, the Monte Carlo needed to get off the highway, and fast.
Sure enough, we rounded the bend and there was the boxy G-body, stuck in the middle of the off-ramp. A fleet of Team Insane cars arrived and proceeded to surround the car, but as soon as we opened our doors, the 491 coughed, groaned and then roared into life. Magnus was in no mood to squander his good fortune, slamming the heavily-modified THM400 transmission into gear and turning off the ramp before winding his way through the local backstreets toward a quiet IKEA parking lot. Although I couldn’t understand what the team was saying at the time, it later appeared that the alternator had given up and the Chevy’s nitrous solenoids couldn’t draw enough power to open, leaving the Monte Carlo with 400 horses on the Camaro. was gone A serious misfire also developed, causing one of the rocker arms to break in half. Whether Magnus won or lost, or whether his car could be fixed quickly or would need to be returned to the shop, was irrelevant; It was for just one run all evening. No practice, no qualifying, no elimination — just an eighth-mile run.
Muscle Car Street Race Turns Into Ugly Head On Collision
This is the underground world of Stockholm’s street racing scene, an incredibly organized, semi-professional and most obviously highly illegal subculture that has flourished in this part of the world over the past 30 years. It probably goes without saying, but just in case; Please know that we do not suggest to readers to participate in illegal street racing, and we always encourage you to find a safe and legal way to race.
